man even collages are way more artistic than genAI can ever be. with collages the artist is still being thoughtful about which specific pictures they're using, where they're being placed on the canvas and how, etc. even if the artist isn't necessarily drawing with typical mediums like pencils, pens, or brushes, there's still thought, choice, and care in what they're creating, and it rules. a lot of times whenever i see genAI there's no care in the piece. there's always something wrong in the details, and they upload it like that!! what choice do they actually have really? the genAI only knows how to spew out the lowest common denominator of whatever it was fed. it can't parse a drawing like a human can. there are so many intricacies in art that a human can figure out what it is easily (a shadow on the face from hair for example), that the AI doesn't know what to do with (will think that shadow is actually part of the face). to process everything that a human can parse? it would need so much more energy and data. i really hope that the genAI bubble bursts. it could've been used as a tool, but they went about it in the most unethical way possible (do now, ask for forgiveness later kind of thing)
