While AI is not exactly like humans in the way it thinks and generates stuff, the way its neural network and nodes work are modeled loosely after the human brain. When an AI is trained and learns information by adjusting its weights within its network of nodes to become better at predicting correct answers, it is essentially doing the mental labor that the human brain ought to be doing and needs to be doing in order to learn a topic.
It's like the AI has done all of the intensive labor to learn a subject and spit out a clean, generic, response the querier likely would have trouble producing themselves. So when we read a seemingly very apt and coherent response from AI, it's like skipping the intensive labor part and going straight to the outcome.
It's like watching a long video of a really buff guy working out and thinking you are now just as strong as that guy and can lift just like he can just because you saw the video.
