Jobs are being lost, but at the same time, new ones are being created. That always sounds like a one-to-one exchange, but it’s far from equal once you look at the numbers.
If people using AI become ten times more efficient, and that change creates one new job while nine others disappear, there’s still a massive imbalance. Scaled up over time and across industries, this means that most of us will eventually lose our jobs — and many won’t be skilled or specialized enough to compete for the few positions that remain.
But if we start talking now about how to adapt to this development, instead of fighting each other for the last few jobs, we might still have a chance to shape a future that works for everyone.
