Who Broke the Enigma? Poles or Alan Turing?
✅ Polish cryptologists — Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski — first broke the Enigma code in 1932 using mathematics and intelligence sources.
✅ In July 1939, they shared their methods with the British and French, just before WWII.
✅ Alan Turing and the team at Bletchley Park built on the Polish work, developing the Bombe machine to automate and scale codebreaking during the war.
🧠 In short:
The Poles broke Enigma first.
Turing made it faster and operational on a large scale.
“The Poles cracked it. Turing industrialized it.”
