I'm disappointed that the video recognized that quality isn't the argument to make and even considered the vapid content distinction, but then made a dismissive plea for humanity. AI art can be made with just as many steps and authorial intent if you're willing to go that far, and the notable works like the one you've mentioned are a result of that process and not just taking a prompt result and going with it. Simple things like refining an image over several prompts by adding either instructions, or modifying it yourself so it can inpaint what you want, will end up with a result that carries the author's touch and the quality will vary on the author's knowledge. This isn't me being pro-AI either, I'm also seeking a useful distinction that can be made, or an isolated weakness to AI art that can be made to call it "bad", without resorting to a spiritual argument. From what I've seen so far, the major weakness would be that the existence of AI interferes with the development of those skills to properly use AI as a tool, but the end result of that would just be phones being banned for good from classrooms, even at colleges.
