Sorry, Bernie, but this is a losing case. Throughout history, progress has always come with disruption. People lost jobs when cars replaced carriages, when factories automated labor, and when the internet reshaped entire industries. Yet every one of these changes made our society richer and more capable.
If the U.S. overregulates AI while other countries push ahead, we’ll risk falling behind in one of the most transformative technologies of our time. Yes, the transition will be painful for many workers, and that deserves compassion and smart policy, but trying to stop the technology itself would only hurt us more in the long run.
And while taxing the rich fairly is important, telling people what assets they can buy or where they can invest goes against the very freedoms America stands for. Innovation and investment are what keep this country moving forward.
