AI will push down SWE salaries, making 100k+ yearly is way above the average income, it incentives investment in automation to reduce human labour. It will stop when the SWE salary be close to the average.
Before AI, companies were already outsourcing their entire IT departments to cheap labour regions like India, South Asia and Latin America. In those places they pay 10x less than in the USA and Western Europe.
