Another thing that is super crazy, Microsoft offers business accounts privacy features such that they can provide some guarantee that using copilot (github or MS copilot) will not leak your proprietary info. Some big companies actually use GitHub business account to host their proprietary code in private repos. I was astonished by this as I know I would not want my proprietary code hosted on a platform that was known for hosting largely opensource repos. I'd either run a private instance of github or gitlab or whatever or host with a 3rd party which actually specialises in hosting proprietary code for businesses. Anywho, what really surprised me is that Microsoft actually offers some guarantee not to leak your proprietary info through AI (either by training the public models or otherwise I guess). I wondered, How can they possibly make this guarantee? Does anyone else ask this? What assurance can Microsoft give that they can actually make good on such guarantees? It seems to me like businesses just take Microsoft's claim on face value and pay for this feature. I have no doubt that it won't be long before some proprietary info gets leaked accidentally by Microsoft. It will be interesting to see what effort Microsoft put in to guaranteeing data privacy and whether it is deemed sufficient to escape liability...
