I like how we have hearing these predictions for years. I remember in 2014/2015 reading articles about how in ten years there won't be any semi-truck drivers due to automation, has n't exactly panned out that way.
People miss alot of the hype starts with AI companies (or companies with strong incentives like Nvidia) are the ones making these predictions. Of course they are going to say "your industry will be 45% AI by such and such date". They want you buy their services or hardware.
We forget how often we overestimate automation being successful. Companies chomp at the bit to fire workers for automation only to reverse the decesion a few years later when they actually need a large scale project to go smoothly.
For example Taco Bell had to stop using AI because it hasn't even gotten to the point where it can actually take a drive-thru order, but were saying it's on the cusp of replacing doctors & lawyers?
