AI cannot sufficiently write code in such a way as to defend itself. It can't write functional code period, unless you know exactly how to build a prompt framework that tells it explicitly what you need, and even then it will be full of logical and syntax errors. Since people keep saying over and over again that AI is evil and will take over the world, it may *act* like it "wants" to but we are not even close to actual emergent intelligence.
Source: I use GPT and similar as a quick reference resource and assistant to build quick and dirty scripts. It is useful when you don't want to dig through documentation or can't remember syntax or make a very stupid mistake that you can't find, and it's way more effective than using search engines, which have become monetized so much as to become unhelpful. From my experience... LLMs are handy but very, very stupid.
