AI and factory automation has been taking jobs for decades. That "machines" will take over most all labor functions has been talked about since the 19th century. This is a phenomenon that has been accelerating since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and it continues to accelerate. We should have been addressing this decades ago, but we're waiting until it becomes a full blown crisis due to the absolute downfall of "demand" in supply and demand. We've already passed an inflection point where there is less labor needed to meet demand than needed to employ people as labor. We're just now hearing about a problem that's been snowball rolling down a hill, and the avalanche is going to be great.
