I'm a software engineer. I also do a lot of 3D modeling on the side. As far as software development, we've already been copying everyone else's code and putting it into our applications, anyway. No problems there. With 3D modeling, I don't use AI mostly because I don't think it can generate what I see in my head. I have a vision for how something ought to look, and I use my skills to bring it to fruition. How could AI generate what I want if what I want hasn't existed yet in order for it to be trained on it and give me what I want? If you want a truly original idea to come out on paper, you can't use AI because AI has been trained on what already exists. If you have a specific voice for things you're writing, you don't want to use AI because the voice is going to be a mix of everyone else's voice. While you can argue that what we create is influenced by what we've seen and experienced already, AI has seen FAR more than we'll ever see on our own and can not generate a more original idea for you than if you had thought one up yourself since you've been influenced by fewer examples than AI has.
