A serious social earthquake is coming. It does not matter if we are able to create more services and goods faster, better, and cheaper if there is no viable consumer for them, as we are massively removing jobs, thereby diminishing DEMAND. Some people in blue-collar jobs might think they are OK. But plumbers, construction workers, electricians, and even field workers will be in trouble if their former buyers /customers do not have the money to pay for their services and products. Past efficiency-increasing revolutions had organic demand for the goods and services they produced grow. This technology revolution is not the killer of humanity by literally killing people, but by destroying the whole social stability. Getting a small farm and getting back to survival basics sounds like a good idea at this time, though the new-world corporate landlords will have the power to seize it through outrageous taxation. Many white-collar workers will not be able to adjust or retrain in this lifetime, and those who could would not find jobs anyway, especially if they are over 45. Solutions? Many, but nobody will act on them. There is just going to be a world natural realignment that goes through one or two generations of disastrous mass poverty that could lead to mass human culling through disease and wars. Probably, something like a Blade Runner society is what we are moving towards, which might sound depressing, but that is going to be the highlight, not the bottom...
