I have worked on AI models for a living, and I fully support your argument. A lot of people are just angry and directionless because they have never had proper guidance or positive reinforcement to help them grow as an artist. I regret not having practiced more or found the right tools back when my dominant hand wasn't affected by tendonitis, but I made sure to help my pals with whatever I've been able to get my hands on throughout the years. As for the models, they're pretty much a tool. You can act like a bigshot suit and claim that artists are obsolete, or you can be mindful of its use, pros and cons and exploit it to make the boring parts go away faster while concentrating on what makes drawing fun. Having some placeholder AI picture, or creating memes as a lark, or even using it to flat color a picture before adding the details yourself is what it should be used for.
