9:40 You are wrong about people not understanding the artist. They do. It's simply that they value being able to generate AI images more than copyright preservation.
And I'd like you to look at it from another perspective. Being able to generate art like this is net positive to humanity. Yes, artists will lose but we all benefit more from all of your short-term losses combined. Every technological progress has always been like this. If we succeed at renewable energy generation, oil company will suffer, but humanity benefits.
Long-term big benefits always cause short-term small loss to someone. And I'd suggest artists to bear the loss at this time. I am a programmer, AI already tries to automate me somewhat by generating code (GitHub Copilot) and I'm happy about it. I want it to fully automate me. I understand that you might be mad because of copyright violation.
But sometimes asking for consent is too slow and it's better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. When you actually ask people for consent, it will sound like a big deal and most people will be scared just from reading the consent text.
