I’m sure it’s gotten better since 2023, but my favorite way to deal with AI when could tell a student clearly didn’t write it (ie. Completely different from how I knew them to write, couldn’t answer basic questions, etc) was to critique it honestly (if more harshly than I would critique their actual work). Also in cases of hallucinations, I would just tell the that their information was wrong and discuss the changes with them one on one and I would usually get a clearly student written draft back
