As a software engineer using AI to work out tricky snippets of functionality, I speak to it as if it is an engineer that has encyclopedic photographic memory. I tell it exactly the form of the elements being manipulated or bug we're attempting to squash, and I tell it very specifically the code I've written and/or the errors or lack of functionality. I never say please or thank you, though I very much want to, as I forget I'm not chatting with one of my developers, and I always point out how incorrect its responses are when it loses the thread or forgets certain bits. In the same way that politeness helps, I have queried to find if it finds it helpful for me to correct its answers, and the response is always "yes!" So I may not say please or thank you, I do generally treat it with the respect as someone who knows more than I do, even if it gets senile sometimes.
