Embarrassingly, I didn’t realize the enormity of this problem until an episode of Chicago PD where the software facial recognition mistakenly hit on an innocent black man. Later after the guy was killed in prison and realizing the mistake, one of the techs said that the program gets less and less accurate the darker the person is mainly because the IT people are white and it’s tested on their white friends and coworkers. Not only is that wrong , but what about actual EVIDENCE!? This ruins lives! But it’s black lives and in America black lives are “expendable.”
