The upside is hard to see of generative AI when comparing static images because the comparison with human artist come right there.
In my opinion the true upside comes in large scale CGI projects. One complaint with Marvel movies is reliance on too much CGI and since the timeline is rushed, the end product looks rushed and the details aren't fine. With generative AI at the disposal of designers, given less resources more appealing movies can be made. That also allows an independent artist to undertake more ambitious projects that previously only big studios could think of.
Games are another area where generative artists can really personalize experience to a point every gamer experience may look just very different from another gamer.
