There’s one simple fact about AI art, If we keep using it we will never be able to make anything new, or see anything new. They use other people’s copyrighted art and use videos people made to learn. Have you ever felt sad and the world felt grey? Give the prompt to an AI artist and they’ll come out with a picture with a grey hue. I honestly don’t see how you can properly imply emotion to art of any kind in AI without it not displaying what you wanted to convey. The process of art past the 18th century has been about messages and love for the expression, and we’re going back in time at the moment to 18th century fruit paintings and portraits, I love a dumb AI video popping up on my feed about a cat running from a cop, but to call it art in comparison to an artist actually taking the time to convey the contrasts of color and emotion is simply not comparable.
I think people need to take the time to love an artists process beyond what a clanker can see, like pop fans or coworker music, or watching bad TV shows. We need to start consuming art in a way that asks ourselves, how do we feel while listening to this? How can we see how the artist was conveying their emotions, how were they feeling when they made this? I’m aware I’m asking this from both people who don’t care about art and others who genuinely understand, but we need to make it normal to not casually listen or promote artists who never loved music for the creativity.
