Copywrite lasts for the life of the artist plus 70 years after death and was put in place as large corporations wanting to maintain control of residual monies related to the artist after death -wanted to control use for profit. Disney is a company that comes to mind that pushed for higher limits of copywrite. I would say that the 70 years after the life of the artist is onerous - burdensome. AND as people use art as examples of mixing with their own expression - and not thinking that they are doing anything wrong - the same could be said for AI. The original artwork still has its own intrinsic value. AI generated art is its own medium. It is a new medium - so it isn't perfect or close to it. All that means is that there will be a lot of jobs opening up in the AI field to address problems. AI is a tool. How people use it can be dangerous.
