I am alarmed to see that AI systems are being rolled out here in Australia in the coming months to analyse and inform driving infringements. Now I can't say how exactly it's going to be used, but considering our preference to book first, retract/defend later, it concerns me. I worry it will encourage a climate of ticketing before verification, and the onus would then fall on the accused to undergo all the work to retract the infringement. AI systems can and do hallucinate incorrect information in deployment situations as a result of testing environments not accurately accounting for real world behaviour.
