If I were China or Russia, I’d hire some expert to go around on podcasts, and to conferences and UN events to encourage regulations and guard rails… knowing that it’ll mostly just be Western countries abiding by them, while my own country goes full force. Though to be fair, of course we too are gna do what it takes behind the scenes. But still, we WOULD impose guard rails and regulations on our commercial sector AI companies (non government), which can/will still slow us down to some degree vs our adversaries (who don’t do the same).
I’m not suggesting that’s what this dude is. I have no clue. And frankly I DO think we need to pause and really think about what we’re doing with AI. But that’s only as good as who enforces / keeps to those rules. I’m just speculating on what I would do.
