The Tesla not having self driving cars everywhere is only cause Musk refuses to put lidar on his vehicles, there's literally a recent startup that literally is putting self driving cars on the roads, personally I would never get a Tesla cause I don't consider them safe enough, if someone placed a brick wall with a picture of a road on it, the Tesla would ram into the wall at full speed, cause to the Tesla it looks like a road, but lidar equipped vehicles can actually see that a solid object is in front of them and stop, it's the same reason a Tesla might hit a baby carriage or a child, especially if the carriage or child isn't in motion, to me it's irresponsible to put self driving cars on the road when they can't clearly see the things in front of them.
