You talk about double standards, but you and many others have one of the biggest double standards of modern times. You don't care about an art form that has been much more prevalent throughout human history: writing. LLMs such as GPT are trained on billions of instances of text that is technically copyrighted. You couldn't care less about the writers. You only care about the visual arts because it involves you now. You didn't even care about AI art back when we had the primitive original DALL-E a year ago. Exact same thing, countless copyrighted images were used to train a model that produced crude images. Very few actually complained because the results were crude. Now you're crying because the AI is much, much better than before. This goes to show that it isn't actually the copyright you have a problem with. It goes far deeper than that and is rooted in ego.
