If we have all of the housing, clothing, food, and healthcare that we need (which we do, just not evenly distributed) then AI theoretically could mean advancement for all of humanity. But the most important obstacle by far is that we have to divorce ourselves from the idea that in a post-superintelligence world we need to extract 40 hours of drudgery per week for forty years in order to justify feeding, clothing, housing, and caring for humans. It just isn't necessary. The protestant work ethic will have to go if we do not want techno-feudalism.
