Anyone who works in a role that is based on fixed rules should is fearful of AI and no doubt will rationalise that AI cannot use human discretion in unusual situations. Tyson’s rejection of General AI is similar because he fears that GAI may reset fundamental goals in intellectual pursuits. The reality is that GAI could come up with some very valid reasons for such a reset which is disempowering for humans such as himself.
