Gee, I’ll bet that most of these SAG-AFTRA members didn’t have much sympathy for the poor coal miners who saw an entire industry abuse and then ditch the workers, causing the collapse of entire towns. How many of the SAG-AFTRA members joined picket lines when automation and technology gutted the automobile manufacturing industry of thousands of blue-collar jobs? How many of these SAG-AFTRA members joined in solidarity with retail and grocery store workers when advancing technology took away those workers’ jobs? Where were the SAG-AFTRA members when automation and technology took away the jobs of millions of office workers, clerks, book editors, publishers, messengers, fast food workers, typesetters, farm laborers, and all of the other blue collar / lower white collar jobs, leaving millions without jobs in careers they had had for decades? How many of the SAG-AFTRA members were among those groups who looked at the unemployed and smugly offered their suggestions that they “Learn to Code”?? And now they are panicking as they see the same forces threaten THEIR own jobs and livelihoods. Gee, maybe they should “Learn to Code” themselves. Maybe their chosen field of Film and/or Acting wasn’t the smartest field to pour all of their hearts and souls in to. Hopefully, they’ve paid off their Student Loan debt that they racked up as they pursued their careers at expensive universities and institutes.
