Interestingly, this kind of autonomous AI drone swarm tactic is exactly the premise of Dune, and their ban on thinking machines (since the AI almost exterminated humanity). Humanity still uses hunter-killer drones, but remote-piloted ones, for assassinations. Only the book was written in 1960.
