At least in VBA, it seems to be very good at cleaning up individual subs and functions. It's especially good at reworking poorly written modules. But it has no sense at all of the big picture. It doesn't seem to understand table relations very well and can't do anything significant for forms, reports, etc. It isn't an efficient way to create a module from scratch that would be expected to work into an existing application. So I guess the author is absolutely correct. Context is everything and that is one of the serious weak points for AI. I believe ai's can model end-users. I think what is the hardest is to model a program manager, a go between, between a model of and user and the AI that writes code. When all that is intact, then I guess there would be a digital assembly line. It doesn't seem to be in the near future.
