In its current state, AI art obviously can’t compete with real artists. What the future holds though…is always uncertain. Look at the writers strike: writers are losing their jobs because they can’t compete with AI script writers. The AI does a better job than the vast majority of these late night show writers, so it’s natural that they’ll lose their jobs and need to step up if they want to compete. End of the day - the workforce is always changing. Innovation has always led to better ways to do things, and of course - obsolete jobs. This is nothing different from scanners at supermarkets taking peoples jobs, online shopping closing down malls, farmers and oil jobs being lost, AI driving eventually overtaking bus drivers, taxis, etc etc.
