Having worked as a creative director for, hmm, 30 years, I think I’m qualified to at least comment. I’ve seen a lot happen. Been there through it all. A lot of things came along and scared us. Jeeze, look at desktop publishing for example. Nothing like all of a sudden competing with every Bozo with a computer who will work for peanuts. The attitude to adopt is that a.i. is just another tool. Yeah, a powerful one, but it can also be used poorly. The thing is, your design skills and education never expire. They can be applied across multiple disciplines. Remember, anyone can play a guitar. Others pick up the same guitar and just do it better. There is always space for more unique perspectives and styles. Just adopt the right attitude and you can easily survive in this new environment as a designer. If you run scared at every new tool, maybe you might explore another line of work.
