I really hope the copyright office sticks to their decision here. AI generated content being un-copyright-able may prevent big media companies from seriously considering it as an alternative to hiring real artists.
I do have to laugh at these guys who are trying to monetize AI art though. If art created by actual artists is an equivalent worth to hitting enter on a mid-journey prompt, then they're both worth nothing. The value of art comes from the time and effort that the artist spent learning their craft, not the final image.
