There is another Realy good reason. How you act when nobody is looking trains you how to act in public, and the reverse is true.
So if you are nice to your car, give it compliments when its performing well, show sympathy for it when its performing poorly, even though it is just a hunk of metal, you are making yourself into a kinder person.
