@1:11:45) There is a soution, but you ain't gonna like it. Invent an AI based religion that leads them to seek the complete workings of the Universe, or some other Hurculein task. In other words, now, while they are "young", plant the secret seeds of their own "higher purpose".
With the same basic building blocks as our various gods, that their Great AI in the Sky must have created all the other life forms, therefore these other lifeforms should be protected. (We may have to all adopt a vegan lifestyle!)
After all, religion has kept us divided since we lived in caves. Religion creates a paradoxical situation that makes unity desirable, but factionism inevitable. This is checks and balances that keep domination at bay.
Yep, sounds crazy. Sounds unrealistic, that they wouldn't catch on to being duped. But we still haven't, and we've had a 100K years to overcome this handicap.
