I agree with your point of view that most people are using generative AI incorrectly and are destroying an effective learning process developed in school and/or college. This study’s results illustrate the obvious. Remember Cliff Notes?
I think we need to develop a new learning process, with GAI help layered alongside other media. I use generative AI to learn new software along with video demos, user groups, and just hunting through the software in an organic learning mode. Anyone who is using these new tools rigorously and in real work environments knows that generative output is not to be trusted. Some days, for some topics, the output is 50% completely incorrect. Anyone who is blindly plugging in GAI output is definitely doing a disservice to their comprehension and development.
