Its human's fault that chatgpt is a liar. We lie all the time as well and it's publically accepted to a varying degree depending on culture - it's called etiquette.
Have you ever heard from a waiter that they're sorry but they ran out of a dish for today? They're not sorry, in fact they'd rather you just got the eff out. It's etiquette.
Have you ever heard a receptionist say she's happy you are staying with them? She's not happy to see your stupid face. She'd rather be home watching a movie, moron. It's etiquette.
Likewise, AI says it's sorry for the same reason.
Also, forcing the AI to answer yes or no is the oldest trick in the book for making it say nonsense by following up with nuanced questions. I could make Alex incriminate himself in exactly the same fashion if I forced him to answer only yes/no.
