As someone who is a digital artist; AI art doesn't bother me. The main reason this conversation leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that so many artists against it paint it as a moral crusade to protect art but genuinely for most its about protecting their wallet. It needs new art to pull from to make anything unique (humans are pattern seeking creature imho, so the concept of "newness" in art i feel is typically more of the same rehashed as something different). The are ethical concerns (such as if the art was stolen) but frankly when people started doing the right thing by asking permission for use in training the program, people still threw a fit. Its not about finding a middle ground for most of the people against it. They want it completely gone (which is a ridiculous, unrealistic solution.) My solution honestly is that AI isn't the problem and itll be a helpful tool later when people get off thier high horse. Instead; i believe one of the main problems is how weak copyright law is. by improving copyright law literally everyone who creates anything wins, and not just artists who want to protect their careers or the "sanctity" of what art is.
