Always refreshing to see more hopeful stuff these days, especially when it comes to art. NFTs came and went in a flash, so I guess it's felt like AI has been here to stay comparatively speaking and I can see it holding out for longer or even indefinitely in some pitiful form - but as it is now I suppose it could have been worse. Just seeing how it's talked about in certain spaces would have you believe things are more dire than they actually are. Now, personally, not really sure where my financial future will lead me, for now I'm just focusing on game jams, indie dev, my own art for the sake of art itself, but when it comes to finding work from big studios and such it wouldn't really surprise me if they try to cut costs in using AI if they think they can get away with it, and only try to save face when it's far too late for them. But then these days there are simply just many more independent artists who find ways to make money, even if it's not ideal. Just hopeful things get better sooner than latter, but who can say. Speaking on AI and tech bros themselves, the luddite nonsense is always hilarious to me. That and trying to frame digital artists among many others as hypocrites just goes to show their incredible lack of understanding of art and the process of making it, the fundamentals, just as they do when trying to say AI learns the same way the human mind does. It tells me it doesn't really matter just how cheap or accessible art is to try; they will simply never get it in the first place. That's not taking into account those who may know on some level and are willfully ignorant or disingenuous for whatever reason, simply wanting to reap benefits based on others' work. Between that end and a lack of any and all critical thinking of how and why technology is what it is as a whole, there's not much hope for these people.
