Once a human has pulled the trigger on a target, I don't see anything negative about the weapon system operating autonomously. A missile that can fly itself into a target that's already been designated, is just a missile with a better guidance system. A drone that does the same thing is functionally no different.
One of the issues arms treaties face, is the issue of actual compliance. A big reason why the US was behind in hypersonic missile tech (even though it was something researched back in the 1960s) is because there were arms treaties limiting what the US could field, while providing no assurances that the Russians were abiding by the treaty. On top of that, new players came into the arena effectively rendering those treaties moot.
