Universal Basic Income will ensure that the country is inundated by hundreds of millions of people from every corner of the globe seeking free money. With respect to balancing the federal budget, UBI does not work without absolutely secure borders and zero immigration. The border is basically impossible to fully secure, and too many people here favor boundless immigration. Economically speaking, UBI is a formula for government insolvency. AI is a bad idea. The most likely policy will be that the elites, who want to displace human workers, will exterminate those "useless" individuals (rather than pay them free income) by bringing back another pandemic or eliminating the nation's food supply.
