I'm just happy the Meijer AI scanning the self-checkouts has stopped giving so many false alarms. Every time, I'd have to wait until the employee was free to fix it, which slows checkout immensely. They have so few employees in the store these days, that a clever thief can probably get away with all kinds of stuff. I wish people would catch on to the fact that AI is not yet ready for prime time. It's exactly the same thinking that's led to "personality tests" and similar nonsense. I had a temp job once at one of the places that handles the scoring of the tests. By the time I was done there, I was hating them a great deal--because I knew that they were profiting off this pseudo-scientific bullshit, and it was hurting real people. They handled tests from all over the country, not just locally. The permanent workers there were smug little bastards, too.
