I'm going to cite non-verbatim something I once saw in an FB post once:
I want AI to do my dishes and laundry so I have more time for art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so I can have more time to do my dishes and laundry.
I think this here perfectly captures why AI taking over art is the opposite of progress. We make art for the enjoyment of creation, and we enjoy seeing art because we like celebrating the human experience captured in those works. Having these things be AI is the very opposite of what art and art appreciation is supposed to be and diminishes it to merely seeing something pretty.
