I really do support artists, but I also have to say that I do believe AI use is inevitable. The point I make for AI is that it is actually faster. While you did pull up a quick image search of hundreds of previously uploaded similar images in the same time it took to generate an AI image, I will say that that only works for images which have already been created. If someone wanted to find an image which had not been created before and that they did not have the skills to create or the time or resources to hire someone to create it or the time to develop the skills to create the image they wanted, an AI generator could be extremely useful. I read another comment that mentioned putting in laws regulating AI and I think that is a more doable path than trying to completely prevent AI use. Some of the major issues with AI image generation is that it scrapes from artists without appropriate reference, but why couldn't AI be forced to include references when producing a work. This credits their sources allowing for exposure, without decreasing the value of the AI or its images. Further, if notation of use of AI generated images were required by law this could also prevent inappropriate use. (these law ideas came from other comments, I just expanded them) The issues with things like NFT's or other things which seemed inevitable, but didn't work is that they did not offer a real viable shortcut, but AI does, at least in theory. Unless the codes and systems used for AI and its development are patented and put behind some major paywalls which is obviously happening to some extent, AI would actually be more accessible than some other methods for image generation. While the cost upfront may be a lot until AI programs become so ubiquitous that the cost is minimal to essentially nothing, if developers of AI programs do not require a cost for each image generated or an astronomical subscription fee to the service, AI generation generally works on tech that most already have and takes less time and new resources to create. A person can bring new ideas to life with far less people, props, references, tools, and time input which can be useful for those who want their end product more efficiently and economically. Further I think in the future, similar to how multiple artists shouldn't take away from the value of each other's work, having AI be a new image generator, should not detract from the amazing work of original human artists. We can use AI to foster idea generation, and facilitate faster work flow, but also recognize the skill, time and expertise needed to make true original art. Loved your video and love to hear all your takes on AI. Please don't stop talking about it because your feelings on AI image generation as an artist who will be impacted by the tech matters!
