I generally agree, but I think anything can also be a springboard for something else. Like in that picture with the huge alien landscape, you could _write_ something interesting based on that AI's possibly "random" art. I see a shot like that and think:
1) The results of a large planetary-scale weapon decommissioned a thousand years ago
2) The trail of some gigantic parasitic worm that may or may not have left the planet already
3) The results of multiple cycles of natural complete groundwater extractions, global die-offs and recovery... a galactic civilization now uses the planet as a sort of resort, taking advantage of the now lower-than-earth gravity, while the more regular volcanic vents have raised the ocean's temperature to a nice 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Even so, I'd still prefer it came from a person, but in a strange way, it did. After all, AI cannot truly create anything new.
