I started my content writing career in 2019 and wrote my first article with the help of AI about two years ago. Nowadays, I'm more of an editor than a writer—I verify what AI writes, add context to improve certain points, create images (yes, with another AI, and these are fully-fledged infographics, not some DALL-E 3 hallucinations), rephrase some things manually, and then upload the finished product to the CMS. The whole process usually takes about a day, with the first draft ready in around 30 minutes (the rest is spent on edits, proofreading, adding context, linking, making graphics, uploading, etc.). Essentially, the work that used to require three people now gets done by one, in a third of the time.
With AI, you can produce high-quality, expert-level content on topics you don't know much about. Scary, isn't it? BUT YOU HAVE TO VERIFY. If you don't need high quality, though, your input could end with just pasting a bunch of keywords into an automated setup with ChatGPT and a headless CMS (basically, a system that uploads content directly to a website). It will literally generate the articles and post them without any human interaction. But you won't get quality—just volume, which is worthless now that Google has taken action against AI spam.
So yes, content writing (and marketing as a whole) has evolved drastically since AI showed up. But you can keep afloat if you embrace the change, adapt, and learn to use the new AI tools. Think of it like this: if anyone can use AI and get decent results without much skill, imagine what skilled users can achieve. There's hope for us yet, as long as AI tools still need people to operate them.
