There has been cases where Au art just recolours or very mildly adjusts peoples artworks, sometimes there will be peoples signature on artworks and it shows in the AI art, yes it can reference, but references and stealing are two different things, referencing is taking the aspects of an artwork, not the whole thing. And just making it look mildly different. AI art is stealing. Not referencing.
