While AI is undoubtedly a problem, the main reason why college degrees are less valuable these days is because of the No Child Left Behind BS.
Everyone graduated Elementary School

Every student was pushed into college and given student loans to guarantee admission.
Guidance Counselors had one goal ... to fill seats.
