Biggest takeaway is a continued conversation about the “AI we’re making and researching that no one knows about.” For years before the LLM’s this was hinted at with no real evidence and it’s still being talked about today, but this theoretical is now being propped up by the existence of LLM’s changing peoples perception. Funny little moments of shaming politicians and other people who “only know AI as LLM’s” …yeah, duh, that’s the only “evidence” that’s been submitted. Everything beyond that, like what Google DeepMind had been doing has never been given a true showcase. All this talk has *always* been “if only you see what I see and work with every day.” It’s literally the same stuff being said about “true AI work” as the people who talked to congress these last couple years “whistleblowing” about what they’ve seen about aliens. Same food, different restaurant.
