Well, self driving will be much safer that human driver. It does not get tired or distracted. It sees 360 degrees around and updates 1,000 times a second.
Human truck drivers do not have good driving record. In 2022 there were 168,320 truck accidents (460 per day!), out of which 4,766 accidents were fatal for one or more people (13 per day!).
